Diversity & Inclusion Culture
Our mission is to improve the diversity of our workforce, equitably and inclusively across differences. This mission helps us meet the needs of our employees, clients, suppliers, shareholders, and communities; is supported throughout our organization; and is reflected in our value statements.
To develop our Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) Plan, we surveyed our employees in 2016 to measure how included and respected people of different genders, ethnicities, and sexual orientations feel. The results were interpreted by an outside consultant who compared the data against a previous survey done in 2015. The result? A 7.2% improvement in the number of employees who feel included at work.
We also compared our Company against global workplace benchmarks in an Employer Inclusivity Index Study. And we have D&I Council representatives from various areas of the business who help us provide program visibility and incorporate diversity and inclusion in our day-to-day activities.
Historically, our industry—engineering, design, and architecture—has been male-dominated. We actively address compensation to mitigate disparities between genders, and provide our leadership and hiring managers with tools to foster a more diverse, inclusive, and equitable workforce.

Diversity and inclusion creates an atmosphere of trust and respect. This depends significantly on the relationships we have with each other and our communities. Diversity awareness, education, and skill-building creates the groundwork for an inclusive environment where we can do our best work and serve our employees, clients, suppliers, shareholders and communities to the best of our ability. We also work to ensure that all levels of the organization are educated about conscious and unconscious bias.
As a global company, we’re involved in external activities that promote diversity and inclusion in the broader marketplace. We actively participate in a number of community partnerships, promoting opportunities for engaging with and recruiting women, members of visible minorities, Indigenous people, people of diverse ethnic origins, and people with disabilities.
